In last 7 years, Rs 2 lakh 33 thousand crores transferred directly to farmers’ accounts: CM Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted significant strides in the agriculture sector during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly's budget session. Direct payments to farmers have seen a substantial increase, with Rs 2,33,000 crores transferred to their accounts over the last 7 years, compared to Rs 2,03,000 crores over 22 years previously. The government has also raised sugarcane prices per quintal and ensured operational continuity for sugar mills despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Various initiatives, including Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi and irrigation expansion, aim to support farmers. Additionally, provisions for free electricity to tube wells, modernization of infrastructure, and funds for agritourism and organic farming labs demonstrate the government's commitment to agricultural development. These efforts are expected to result in 1,33,000 hectares of additional agricultural land and improved water facilities for farmers.
