ISMA estimates gross sugar production at 333 lakh tonnes in 2024-25 season

 

ISMA: Sugar Season 2024-25 Outlook

Sugarcane acreage: Estimated at 56.1 lakh hectares.

Gross sugar production: Projected at 333 lakh tonnes.

Uttar Pradesh: Good cane condition, lower diversion to jaggery and khandsari expected.

Maharashtra and Karnataka: Reduced cane area due to last year's drought, but improved rainfall this year expected to boost productivity.

Other states: Minor adjustments in cane area and production anticipated.

Overall outlook: Significantly more optimistic than previous forecasts.

Sugar balance: Excess stock expected to support ethanol blending and exports.

Assumptions: Normal rainfall and other optimal conditions.
