Ethanol sales surge in Brazil

In January, Brazil saw a significant spike in ethanol sales, with a 44% YoY increase, reaching 1.27 billion liters. Mills, facing storage constraints due to a robust crop, actively participated in selling. Sales of hydrous ethanol, a gasoline competitor, surged by 83%. Despite low prices, mills engaged in large-volume sales, influenced by ample ethanol stocks from a record sugarcane crop. Fuel distributors are procuring ethanol ahead of expected tax changes in February, anticipating a rise in gasoline prices. During the same period, Brazil's sugarcane crushing rose by 152.3%, sugar production surged by 148.6%, and total ethanol output increased by 62.4%
