Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking at the Summit on the Role of Bioenergy in India, highlighted the importance of increasing ethanol production and positioning India as the largest manufacturing center for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). He stressed the potential for ethanol to become a major player in the aviation fuel industry. Gadkari mentioned the global commitment, made at Davos, to mandate 5 percent sustainable aviation fuel in aviation fuel. He also mentioned the development of Flex engines by companies like Bajaj, TVS, Hero Honda, and Suzuki, which are compatible with ethanol. Gadkari suggested utilizing bamboo in Assam for ethanol production, facilitating exports to Bangladesh and creating new employment opportunities. He emphasized the goal of making India the 3rd largest economy in 3 years, focusing on employment generation and reducing imports in the fuel sector.
