AM Green plans to invest $1 billion in second-generation biofuels by establishing two bio-ethanol plants and acquiring a 50% stake in Assam Bio Refinery Pvt. Ltd from Finnish companies Fortum Oyj and Chempolis Oy. Assam Bio Refinery is co-owned by Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, Fortum, and Chempolis. AM Green will also acquire Chempolis Oy, a Finnish biotechnology firm. The company aims to expand in the biofuels sector, using non-food biomass for production. The Assam plant will use 300,000 tons of bamboo annually to produce various biofuels and chemicals. AM Green's strategy aligns with India's green energy transition, focusing on biofuels and other sustainable energy solutions.
