We are rapidly moving towards achieving 20 per cent ethanol blending target in petrol: PM Modi

PM Modi inaugurated the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) in Delhi.

India is moving towards a 20% ethanol blending target in petrol.

The ethanol blending program benefits agriculture and the environment.

India last hosted the conference 65 years ago, during a challenging time for food security.

Today, India is a food surplus country and a leading producer of several agricultural products.

India now contributes to global food and nutrition security.

Ethanol production capacity has increased to 1,589 crore litres per annum.

Ethanol blending with petrol reached 15.90% in June, with a cumulative blending of 13.0% from November 2023 to June 2024.

The government aims for 20% ethanol blending by 2025, requiring 1016 crore litres of ethanol and a total capacity of 1700 crore litres.
