Sugar output in India is likely to dip to 30 mt in 2025 amid increased ethanol diversion.

 



➡️ Sugar Production: ICRA has estimated India's net sugar production at 30 million tonnes for the 2025 sugar season, down from 32 million tonnes the previous year. This decrease is attributed to a higher diversion of sugar towards ethanol production.

➡️ Revenue Growth: ICRA predicts that revenues of integrated sugar mills will increase by 10 percent in FY2025. The key drivers for this growth are:

  • Higher sales volumes
  • Firm domestic sugar prices
  • Increased distillery volumes due to the operationalisation of new capacities
